The Scrip Program

What is the Scrip Program?

The Script Program in a way that you can help CrossRoads Baptist Church financially while shopping and spending as you normally shop. Through Great Lakes Scrip our members and friends purchase Gift cards from the various participating stores. These gift cards are the same cards that you would purchase from the store and spend in these stores just like cash. However, when you sign up with scrip using the CrossRoads scrip number a percentage of the value of the gift card is sent directly to CrossRoads Baptist Church. The percentage given to CrossRoads Baptist Church varies for store to store but as people use this program these percentages, regardless of their size quickly add up.

A Sacrifice Of Time and Planning

Using the Script Program does take some time and planning but if you have an idea of the stores you usually shop at and if these stores participate with script then you can buy what you expect to spend at your favorite stores in Script gift cards and the Church will benefit from your usual spending. There is no additional charge to you for using the Scrip Program unless you choose to use Presto Pay to purchase your cards, which is similar to Pay Pal, then there is a $0.39 charge for each overall purchase (not each gift card), but this is even less than a postage stamp. Presto Pay takes a little extra effort to set up, however, the convenience is worth the effort. For those who do not wish to use Presto Pay a check may be given to our Church Coordinator for your purchase. Our Church Coordinator is Glenna Hiett.

When you have decided to purchase Gift Cards through Scrip you will go to www.shopwithscrip.com and set up your account and Presto Pay (if you choose to use it). Once your account is set up you just browse through the Script participating stores and purchase the cards and denominations you desire. When you finish shopping you check out and make your payment by Presto Pay or personal check and then your order is placed on a consolidated list that must be approved and purchased by our coordinator. Glenna usually approves this list late Monday. The order is then shipped via Federal Express to our coordinator and your cards will usually be available for pick up the following Sunday. Once you have your Gift Cards you spend them just like cash.

Script does offer some rechargeable Gift Cards. These cards are more convenient in that the renewal takes place faster than having to wait for the delivery of a new card. These cards may be recharged through the store or Scrip, however renewable cards must be recharged through your Script account in order for CrossRoads to benefit from your purchase.

Setting Up Your Scrip Account

Enrolling with Scrip is quick and easy. You can set up your initial account is just a few minutes. You will need our CrossRoads enrollment code which is available from Glenna Hiett. Glenna may be contacted by email at: Glennav@cell1net.net

It took me three days to complete the whole process because I choose to set up Pronto Pay, which I find to be a great way to pay. However, the basic enrollment only take a few minutes.

To enroll click on this link to go to www.shopwithscrip.com. If the link does not work then just point your browser to this web site.
Click on the "Get Started" tab and then click on the "Register" link on the left hand side.
Now just follow the instructions and remember to insert the CrossRoads enrollment code when it is requested.
Once registered you can shop and order gift cards but you will have to pay by check.

Presto Pay

Presto Pay is set up to use your checking account to pay for your orders like Pay Pal. Each payment made through Presto Pay will add $0.39 for the service. However, many may feel the convenience is worth it. Setting up Presto Pay may take as much as three days because when you set up the service Presto Pay will first make two small deposits into your account to verify that your account is set up right before you can use the service. So, you have to wait for these deposits to appear in your account before you can verify your Presto Pay account and use it.

To set up Presto Pay you will need to first enroll with Script. Then you will need to sign into your account and then go to the "My Account" tab. You will find a link on the left side bar to Presto Pay. Click on this link and then follow the instructions. You will need a check so you will have your account number and bank routing number available for this set up.

To help our members when using scrip we have developed a Scrip Update web page where we will post updates that we are aware of in order to keep our folks informed. We suggest checking this page prior to placing your orders so that you will be aware of important information that may affect your purchases. Is This A Tithe

Bible believing Christians know that God asks for a tithe (first ten percent) of all our increase. God often additionally burdens His people to give freewill offerings as well, which is anything over and above the tithe. Tithes are to be directed to ones local Church for the support of the Churches ministers and ministries, while freewill offerings may be given to a host of other causes.

While using Script will clearly benefit CrossRoads Baptist Church it should not be viewed as a tithe. You will be spending as you normally spend and the giving will actually be provided to our Church through the companies that participate. Christians should continue to give their regular tithes and offerings to their Church.

There is the side benefit of the sacrifice of time and planning that you will make in using Scrip and I believe that our Heavenly Father will see your heart and recognize your effort and will pour His blessing upon you for you faithfulness toward Him in your work of faith.
